![]() When they wire sensors such as a door sensor, they normally put these things called resistors(google it) at the end of the wire(keep reading till the end to understand why). I think for some people the most confusing part about wiring the sensors to retrofit kit is the whole resistor thing.įor people not familiar with electronics it may seem like a strange/foreign concept and may make you want to hire a professional but its really simple to understand. You’ll need a male and female version to make a nice clean wire without soldering.Įdit: I added my little blurb about resistors and wiring a retrofit kit from my reply below to help people with wiring retrofit kit. I picked these connectors(link below) up from amazon and wired both side of the keypad wires and even though the distance is quite long it worked fine for transmitting 5v. That would’ve saved me atleast an hour of time and looked a lot cleaner. I could’ve just run the electric for the ring keypads over the existing keypad wiring. I completed the whole house and then after I finished mounting the keypads I realized how instead of making new holes in the wall and trying to hide the usb cable. I got the ring alarm and retrofit kit to change my wired house to ring alarm. This also means we won't allow you to share your link on the sub either sorry.
